The IMC Over 40s World Cup is a young competition in the masters cricket calendar. Organised by International Masters Cricket (IMC), the first official Over 40s World Cup was held in 2024, which means the list of winners is short but growing. South Africa are the only champions of the main 50-over Over 40s World Cup so far, having won the inaugural edition, while Australia claimed the separate Over 40s T20 World Cup in 2025.
The 2026 edition in Guyana is the second staging of the Over 40s World Cup, with South Africa defending their title. This page lists the winners and runners-up of the IMC Over 40s World Cup to date, along with the story behind the inaugural champions.

IMC Over 40s World Cup 2024: The Inaugural Champions
The first ever IMC Over 40s World Cup was held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 4 to 18 March 2024, after originally being planned for Pakistan. South Africa were crowned the inaugural champions, beating New Zealand in the final. South Africa restricted New Zealand’s strong batting line-up to 155 and then chased down the target with plenty to spare, winning by six wickets to lift the first Over 40s World Cup trophy on home soil.
Werner Moolman top-scored for South Africa with an unbeaten 45 in the final, while New Zealand’s Hardeep Singh, the leading run-scorer of the tournament, made 55. South Africa went through the event losing only one match, to New Zealand in the round-robin stage, before turning the tables in the final.
IMC Over 40s T20 World Cup 2025
In 2025, a separate IMC Over 40s T20 World Cup was staged in Pakistan, with the trophy unveiled in Karachi. Australia won the title, adding a T20 World Cup to the masters honours board. This T20 edition sits alongside the main 50-over Over 40s World Cup, so the two competitions have different champions to date.
Most Successful Nation in the IMC Over 40s World Cup
Because the competition is still new, South Africa stand alone as champions of the main Over 40s World Cup, having won the inaugural 2024 edition. Australia hold the Over 40s T20 World Cup title from 2025. With the 2026 edition under way in Guyana, the list of champions is set to grow, and South Africa will be aiming to become the first nation to win the Over 40s World Cup twice.
IMC Over 40s World Cup 2026: Defending Champions
South Africa enter the 2026 Over 40s World Cup in Guyana as the defending champions. They are among the favourites alongside Pakistan, hosts West Indies, Australia, New Zealand, England and India. The winner of the 2026 edition will be added to this list once the Cup final is played on 31 October 2026 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.
